ABOUT PETER NELSON
Peter has been involved in the Brisbane music industry from a live performance, and production side for nearly 20 years. As a vocalist, and a trumpet player Peter was a member of Taxi, a Funk/Rock/Punk Quintet, and incorporating turntables, keyboard and sampling played in the Visitors, an electro funk act. Both bands were local favourites, receiving JJJ airplay and were regulars at Woodford Folk Festival, Livid, Big Day Out and The Valley Fiesta. Peter was also a member of T squared, a studio project, who were runners up in Triple j unearthed, featured on a Sony compilation CD, and remixed a track for Brisbane trio Elixir.
Collaborating, Peter wrote the musical score for “Lives and Loves” performed at the Powerhouse and
“Boredom Patrol” a short movie screened at the Dendy.
He also collaborated with sound design
for the art installation piece “K:\012044” in the QLD museum.
As part of electronic due Tweaks and Beats Peter co remixed “Cry” for Brisbane band George.
Combining with Christine Johnston, Peter was a musician in the highly acclaimed “Decent Spinster” and “Fluff” featuring
at the Sydney Opera House, Powerhouse, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Sydney festival, Auckland Town Hall
and Queensland Performing Arts Theatre.
Peter was the sound scape artist for Umber Productions and Elaine Acworth's linguistic thriller “Risk”.
He was the Sound designer for “Yonder”, a KITE Arts Education program, performed at QPAC,
running workshops fusing technology with percussion and music.
Remaining more studio focused he is currently involved with sound design for multimedia/web, editing
and remixingtracks for Brisbane Artists, and assisting workshop programming.
His latest live project fuses elements of electronica with
live instrumentation, and loop based sampling,
currently exploring interactive mediums.
